SBA Business Development Associate - Multiple Locations, CA
Job Summary
The SBA Business Development Associate position is responsible for supporting the Business Development Officers with marketing, loan review, submission and loan closing. Incumbent is responsible for following the Bank’s policies and procedures. Loan Production Goals will be determined following sufficient on the job training and successful performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Markets and assists with business development activities and other marketing efforts on prospects, clients, and external referral sources to assure service requirements are met and new business opportunities are realized.
- Plans and coordinates marketing campaigns/business development seminars and meeting
- Participates in the development of close working relationships with external bank partners in conjunction with BDO activities.
- Works with the BDO towards completing documentation necessary to submit a loan application to credit.
- Analyzes, originates and monitors a variety of more routine, less complex SBA loans.
- Makes or assists in sales calls, gathers related financial and general business information as directed, coordinates and performs financial analyses needed to make credit decisions.
- Assists BDO with interviewing prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan application; continually corresponds with applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Assists with gathering and analyzing all information necessary to present a financing request to underwriter, SBA Department Manager, President/CEO, Chief Credit Officer, etc.
- Assists BDO in the collection of application items and construction of submission packages.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors and competition.
- Cross-sells CalPrivate Bank’ other products and services as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
BSA/AML/Compliance Responsibilities
This position includes direct interaction with customers and therefore includes responsibilities relating to BSA/AML. The employee will have opportunity to examine and view information and documents produced by other employees of the Bank relating to BSA and therefore has the obligation to report activity to the BSA Officer as appropriate. The employee is responsible for understanding and following the Bank’s BSA/AML policies including elevating suspicious activity to the BSA Officer. Additionally, the employee is required to understand and follow the Bank’s compliance program.
Qualifications
- 4 year degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of equivalent SBA experience preferred
- 3+ years of banking experience and general knowledge of the lending process and requirements.
Skills Needed
- Experience in financial statement and tax return analysis
- Some experience in SBA lending activities and terminology
- Some knowledge of commercial real estate and construction financing
- Knowledge of SBA SOP
- Knowledge of Government Regulations

- Proficient PC skills to include spreadsheet, word-processing, database systems and other software utilized by the department

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk or balance. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus. In the performance of duties of this job the employee may be required to travel occasionally.

Salary Range
$59,000 – $80,000 annually
