CalPrivate was a proud sponsor of the 13th Annual White Light White Night event with Walk With Sally on Saturday, July 20, 2019. It was a night of celebration and hope! Because of this event Walk With Sally is able to continue to grow in our mission to provide hope through individualized mentoring and community support services to empower children experiencing trauma through a parent, guardian or sibling's cancer journey.

Boys & Girls Clubs of La Habra's mission is to help youth of all backgrounds, especially to those who need us most, to develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. CalPrivate Bank’s Beverly Hills team, along with Maria Vizcarra, introduced a DTI [Debt to Income] lesson during a Financial Literacy event. The middle/high schoolers of the Boys & Girls Club of La Habra were very excited to see the team there again and to learn how to manage their debt as they become young adults.

Soroptimist International of Coronado is a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. The organization’s annual legends luncheon program consisted of honoring Dr. Susan Stone, awarding scholarships and recognizing local programs, which are building bridges of opportunity for women and girls. CalPrivate Bank was a proud sponsor of this event and had great volunteers working the registration table, auction transactions and much more. 100% of the proceeds from the auctions and donations went directly to programs that support women and girls.

Annually, Promises2Kids provides over 3,000 current and former foster youth in San Diego County with the tools, opportunities, and guidance they need to address the circumstances that brought them into foster care. These youth are taught how to overcome the difficulties of their past, and grow into healthy, happy and successful adults. Rob Pedersen, SVP/SBA at CalPrivate Bank serves as Board Chair for Promises2Kids & CalPrivate was a proud sponsor of the 2019 Dream on Concert Gala raising funds to support this great organization.

2019
The first grade class of Coronado’s Christ Church Day School, opened a pop-up restaurant to raise money and awareness for the Monarch School, a K-12 school dedicated to the educating the homeless children of San Diego. CalPrivate Bank’s Coronado Branch supported the fundraising efforts for a community luncheon organized by the students, as part of this initiative. In addition, the branch provided a tour of the bank and education on bank departments and operations.

Freedom to Live is a nonprofit organization providing affordable housing, expert consultation and coordination of necessary services to ensure a successful pathway from hospital to home for spinal cord injury patients and other catastrophically disabled individuals and their families. With support from CalPrivate Bank and other companies alike, their annual charity golf tournament raised over $175,000 for people suffering from spinal cord injuries. Phil Michelson, John Schroder and the organizations Executive Director Sian Welch, are shown here at the October 2018 event. CalPrivate Bank welcomes the opportunity to support organizations such as Freedom to Live with their community focused initiatives.

Serving Seniors is a non-profit organization assisting seniors in poverty live healthy and fulfilling lives. Services provided include nutritious congregate and home delivered meals, social services, health management, transitional housing for homeless and lifelong learning. The organization also has two residences which house 350 units of affordable senior housing with onsite social workers, nurses and meals. CalPrivate Bank supports the Serving Seniors programs through donation of blankets, socks, bedsheets, clothing, gift cards, umbrellas, toiletries and food and beverages for low-income seniors.

Mychal’s Learning Place believes that children and adults with developmental disabilities deserve to be challenged with opportunities that build self-esteem and independence, creating long-term success for life. The organization provides after school programs and well as adult day programs with job training, in a safe and loving environment. With CalPrivate’s support of the Mychal’s Annual Art Show, the organization continues to reach new children and young adults engaging them in independent living skill training and development through the path to independence program, as well as providing parent and support training for anyone who has a family member with a disability.

Hope Leadership Academy is a youth ministry that seeks to ensure that youth from fatherless homes in underserved communities receive support, guidance and a plan to break the cycles of divorce, poverty and hopelessness. Annually a Toys for Hope Toy Drive provides messages of hope for the holiday season for underserved children of Barrio Logan and Oceanside. The community outreach that CalPrivate Bank supported through this engagement, feeds over seven thousand people, while giving toys to more than five thousand kids. Through the HLA partnership we are focused on empowering change and giving the gift of hope during the holiday season.

As part of our ongoing community engagement initiative, CalPrivate Bank identifies nonprofit and community-based activities, that support children and families in crisis, facilitate access to health care, offer training and economic improvement opportunities, and address housing safety and security concerns within our communities.
CalPrivate Bank is helping to meet the credit needs of the communities in which we serve, comprised of San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles counties, including low-and moderate- income (LMI) neighborhoods. We do so by maintaining consistent safe and sound operations, practicing the ability and capacity to service, while maintaining high credit quality standards and sound non-discriminatory practices.
The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977 encourages financial institutions to meet the credit needs of the communities where they operate. CalPrivate’s community development encompasses economic empowerment through small business development, job creation, affordable housing and financial education. The FDIC evaluates CalPrivate Bank’s CRA performance every three years.
