Human Resources Generalist - Newport Beach, CA

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the HR Generalist will partner and manage a variety of HR functions that strongly contribute to the efficiency of the organization. This position will focus on HR compliance in the areas of benefits administration, leave management, recruiting and performance management. Nonetheless, the HR Generalist will partner with the HR team and collaborate in all other functions as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Compensation & Incentive Pay Analysis

  • Responsible for administration, validation, and processing of bi-weekly and quarterly incentive compensation plans for all commission eligible team members
  • Provide timely resolution of inquiries from commission plan participants

Recruitment and Staffing

  • Prepares job descriptions and postings
  • Responsible for sourcing non-exempt positions for the organization
  • Assists HR Manager in the planning and maintenance of required staffing levels. through an effective recruiting campaign, utilizing online advertising platforms such as Indeed, Linked In, state employment agencies, job fairs, and other avenues as needed
  • Encourages inter-company promotional opportunities through utilization of the internal job posting process, promotion of our team member referral program and team member communications, as needed
  • Coordinates the interview process between hiring leaders and candidates
  • Prepares offer letters and coordinates with hiring manager.
  • Conducts local new hire orientation including payroll, time & labor and benefits specific content
  • Responsible for ensuring a fully integrated and positive candidate and new hire experience via post hire surveys, team member follow up and on-site visits

Benefits and Workers’ Compensation Administration

  • Responds to employee inquiries related to benefits administration including coordinating with insurance company
  • Responsible for benefits administration, including but not limited to benefits billing reconciliation, team member coverage inquiries and benefit contributions associated with leaves of absence.
  • Responsible for the annual open enrollment process.
  • Responsible for the leave management process, including but not limited to, tracking, reporting, benefits coordination while on leave and the interactive process

Performance Management and Employee Relations

  • Works with all team members to provide HR counseling and guidance as needed
  • Conducts exit interviews
  • Conducts workplace investigations as needed
  • Makes recommendations based on a wholistic and factual view of matters with a focus on risk mitigation and achieving a positive culture and working environment
  • Collaborates on initiatives which support diversity, equity and inclusion

Payroll Backup & Support to Payroll Administrator

  • Processes bi-weekly payroll in absence of payroll administrator
  • Enters new hires into timekeeping and HRIS system, as needed
  • Responds to manager and employee inquiries related to timekeeping, payroll and HRIS system
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

BSA/AML/ Compliance Responsibilities:

This position includes direct or indirect interaction with customers and other team members and therefore includes responsibilities relating to BSA/AML. The employee will have opportunity to examine and view information and documents produced by other team members of the Bank relating to BSA and therefore has the obligation to report suspicious activity to the BSA Officer as appropriate. The employee is responsible for understanding and following the Bank’s BSA/AML policies including elevating suspicious activity to the BSA Officer. Additionally, the employee is required to understand and follow the Bank’s compliance program.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required, a college degree is preferred or equivalent coursework. Certification in HR is desirable
  • Minimum of five (5) years of HR generalist experience, serving in a variety of functions
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with commission or incentive compensation plans
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is required
  • Data analytics focused – highly preferred
  • Intermediate level mathematics is essential in the performance of the compensation responsibilities for this position
  • Diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) experience in steering and managing DEI initiatives (highly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards applicable to the human resources and payroll functions
  • Ability to deal effectively and positively with applicants, team members, peers, and management staff

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Required to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, printers / copiers, phone system(s) and other office equipment specific to loan processing function
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to focus and review large volumes of documentation
  • Required to visit bank branches monthly
